There is no typical day for a real estate agent, which is one of the reasons many enjoy the business so much. Agent tasks vary day to day but may include meeting prospective clients and showing homes, overseeing repairs to a listed property, working closely with a lender to complete a transaction, managing contracts and answering questions from first-time buyers.

A real estate agent is a person who holds a real estate license. A REALTOR® is a real estate agent who has subscribed to the Code of Ethics through membership in the National Association of REALTORS®. They are a member of the local, state and national associations.

We recommend visiting multiple brokerages to find out which office works best for you. Not all brokerages offer the same services or structure of pay. Do your due diligence by researching and interviewing multiple brokerages before making a decision. Additionally, consider the questions that you would like to ask a broker based on your needs and preferences. Interviewing is not like a traditional job interview. It is just as important for you to interview the broker, as it is for them to interview you.

Typically, real estate agent income is based on commission.
